Bought two of these for our living room. These Chinese-made lamps were drop-shipped from the Meyda site in NY and arrived disassembled but well-packed in one large box. No paperwork/instructions was included in the box, so you need some amount of mechanical inclination to figure out how to assemble these. The picture shows the lamps having a rotary power switch on the base, but these came with pull chains connected to the socket. Another Meyda lamp I purchased also had a power switch that differed from the pictures, so there doesn't seem to be much consistency in their products.
Four harps (the "U" shaped metal piece that connects to the base and holds up the shade) were shipped...two color matched to the base, and two chrome. Only one is needed per lamp...I have no idea why the chrome ones were included.
Once I had assembled the bases and got everything aligned (the various bits were all off-center, but easily adjusted), one of the chains stopped working after the first pull. I had to disassemble the socket to fix it, but am concerned it will happen again...there's something slightly off with the mechanism inside the socket that I hope goes away as the lamp is used.
The finish on the base is nice, but the shade seems quite fragile....there's not much metal in the shade's frame, so it deforms rather easily. Time will tell whether it holds up.
I sent an e-mail to Meyda a few weeks ago with question regarding their products, and they never replied. Keep that in mind if you feel that prompt customer service is a requirement for purchase.
So overall, nice looking lamp, but for the price, the quality could be a little better.
